Description

The characters were created by Dirks in the 1890's under the name Katzenjammer Kids. When he left his then publishing company there was a lengthy legal battle which resulted in Dirks retaining the right to draw the characters but having to give up the name. He titled the strip Hans and Fritz but in the 19 teens the growing anti-german sentiment led to the strip changing names again to Captain and the Kids. This is a fun example with some classic elements and gags for the strip. Dirks died in 1968 and strip chores passed on to his son.
