Description'Humphrey Bogart' by Sebastian Krüger: Acrylic on Board rendered in 1996 measuring 100 X 70 cm. (39 X 28 inches). This is one of my all time favorite Krüger paintings! What is it about this work that touches my soul? Maybe it's the intelligent serenity of his old master style eyes; perhaps the burning cigarette held in his nicotine stained fingers; the cracked lips covered in lip balm; or the incredible detail around the eyes. It could be his 5 o'clock shadow, with every stubble perfectly placed and shadowed; or his freshly pressed shirt with loosened tie; I can smell the aroma of the atmosphere when I look at him closely. Did he move? No that's not possible. It sure seemed like he did. Bogie, are you in there? Again, I look at his eyes and know; Yes.Social/Sharing |
