Description

One of the biggest highlights of NYCC 2014 was meeting Pablo Peppino from Argentina. Pablo and his co-creators were set up away from artist's alley promoting their recent Kickstarter book The Skies of Fire. I missed it on Kickstarter but was happy to pick up a copy. The art looked great and I ended up buying a page too. I asked Pablo about a commission and he was so excited to do one, especially of Corto Maltese. Pablo has had experience in comics having helped ink for Eduardo Risso and others but I believe this to be his first, published solo work. I think the Risso influence comes through in some of the images of the page.

The commission took more time that expected and the guys at the booth were far busier than they anticipated which I think is a great thing. I hope to see a lot more of his work in the near future. The results of the commmission are evident here, an inspired design with a great style and feel to it. Perfect.
