Henk Roede has drawn since his childhood. He began a comics magazine with a couple of friends at age 14, and continued it for two years. He then draws for several amateur magazines. He began Studio Roede and created the characters 'Harrie & Ep', of which he self-published the first book in 1996. A year later, Roede took over the printing company he works for. His work for the company puts his comics activities on hold for a while, but a second book of 'Harrie & Ep' followed in 2003. The strip is now also featured in several newspapers. Roede is also active as an illustrator for educational material, together with his wife Theresia Jager.
