Description

I had no idea about scratchboard or Nicolas Delort's body of work before seeing his Great Pumpkin print for Dark Hall, followed up by his Christmas piece. This is the original; the prints were done with the ornament on the tree tinged red, and with the lights as foil.

A piece like this takes Charlie Brown from pop culture to something just short of mythology. I like how the resulting "etching effect" is a departure from the familiar look of snow on pine trees. The gang waiting outside the house for Chuck is a great touch.
