Description

At Emerald City Comic Con 2013, I originally asked Brian to draw me an MJ commission, which turned into him asking to see my art portfolio. First thing I thought was how in the world does he know I am an artist, and how did it go from me asking him to make me a commission to him asking to see my portfolio. The next day I came back with my art portfolio and showed it to him. He liked my work but also told me what I need to work on, and how to improve.

He taught me to "focus on the shapes and not the parts" when I draw, which helped me tremendously to improve as an artist. He demonstrated what he meant, on sketch paper and let me keep the sketches for my own personal artistic development and reference. He drew on a few sheets of paper, demonstrating how to improve my work! These are the sketches! One of the sheets of paper, I wrote with his pen, the lesson I learned.

These are the sheets of paper that he sketched on, and gave to me. In the end it didn't matter anymore for a commisison, after I found what I was looking for: how to improve my art.
