Description

In the early 80's, 3 "team series" were really competing for the top position on my list: X-men by Claremont and Cockrum/Byrne/..., the great FF revisiting by John Byrne and the Teen Titans by Wolfman and Perez.

All 3 series were closely following the Stan Lee recipe (yes, even DC's Titans!) and paced their stories carefully, entertaining several layers and alternating between action and more mundane (but beautifully written) moments.

The introduction of those quieter scenes allowed for greater insight into the characters (after all, despite the word balloons, you don't really talk meaningful when you fight, don't you?...) and helped build the momentum for the upcoming action scenes.

To illustrate my point: establishing a credible personality for Terra made her betrayal and ultimate fall all the more shocking.

Same goes for the evolution and interaction between Robin/Nightwing, Starfire and Wonder Girl, that are depicted with care and subtlety on this page.

The composition makes it all the more enjoyable, with a great use of camera angles.

For me, this page clearly displays the love the authors had for their characters, taking the time to let them be who they are "under the hood"...
