Karate Kid vs.
Drax the Destroyer by
David Baldeon
I first saw David's work a few years ago when he drew some issues of Blue Beetle and Robin. I was impressed with his art, and then later when I saw it again in Young Allies and X-Men Legacy, I marveled at how he was improving with every book he drew. Nowadays he's drawing Nova and it is one of the best-looking comics Marvel is publishing. Anyway, when I saw David would be at Wizard World New Orleans this year, I sent him an e-mail about setting up a Karate Kid commission. After talking with David about a few different opponents, I chose Drax for this commission. David draws awesome big characters, as you can see with his takes on the Hulk and Toro in his comics work. And he gave Karate Kid a massive Drax to fight here! I love the details on Drax's boots and knives, and the look on Drax's face. And David's take on Karate Kid is pretty much perfect. Huge thanks to David for this incredible commission!
Drax is super-strong, durable, and a heck of a fighter. Fighting Drax would be like fighting the Hulk and Wolverine at the same time. Val Armorr could beat him, but first he's gotta disarm him. After that, he's just gotta point behind Drax and say "look, there's Thanos!", and when Drax turns around, knock him out from behind. The end!
If you like this piece then please do go buy some books featuring David's work in either physical or digital format and/or go commission him yourself.
