DescriptionRAF Dalton was an airfield used by RAF Bomber Command during WW2. It was 310 kilometers North of London. At the time the insigne was made the base was a RCAF unit used as a relief landing ground by operational training units. In Nov. 1944 No.7 Group Aircrew School was set up at the airfield. The station housed #1695 Bomber Defense Training Flight (BDTF) RCAF, the last RCAF unit to serve at the station. From 15 Feb 1944 - 23 Ap.1945 they flew versions of the Miles Martinet, Hawker Hurricane and Submarine Spitfire. With airfields dotting England to meet the Luftwaffe and engaged in the dangerous bombing campaign over Germany there had been a time when "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed to so few".
