Description

From DC Comics in 1981, Gerry Conway wrote the Return of the Starfish Conqueror storyline that brought Starro back to face off against the Justice League. The second issue from the storyline was issue 190 and it featured an iconic cover by Brian Bolland. It immediately grabbed my attention when I was a kid and I could barely wait to get home and read it.

The art for Justice League had pretty consistently been handled by the very talented Dick Dillin for many issues until his untimely passing in 1980. DC replaced him for a period with George Perez, but there were still a few issues where they had other artists filling in. This two parted was one of those and it was penciled by Rich Buckler and inked by Bob Smith. People have varied opinions on Rich Buckler's work, but for this page the artist factor takes a second place to the nostalgia factor. Because it is the JLA vs Starro The Starfish Conqueror. Yes.. Starro The Starfish Conqueror.. and the final panel.. in Grand Central Station.. what more could you want?
