Description

In the early period after Foster gave up drawing Prince Valiant and John Cullen Murphy took over, Foster was still laying out the strip in pencil and doing the dialogue, with Murphy using Fosters layouts to prepare the final inked originals that were published. There are apparently a number of these around, but I had been looking for one for a few years before I finally was able to snag one for my collection. I LOVE Foster, and this was definitely a nice prize for me after several years of searching and a few failed attempts to coax one out of the few people who had them posted on CAF.

I've never seen one of these - really beautiful. Calling it a preliminary almost seems wrong given the quality of the art :)
