I recently came across the work of Dorian Vallejo and absolutely loved it. He has a book of his work titled "Drawings: Inspired by Life" that he offers what he calls Collector's Editions which include a drawing inside on one of the first pages. http://www.drawingsfromlife.com/Pages/Book/Book_Page.html Well on a whim I decided to purchase a copy and asked if he would draw me a kimono girl. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. He said he usually doesn't do them as commissions since it is more of a place he likes to play but that he would be happy to do one for me. He asked if I was set on a kimono girl since he had something in mind that would fill the requisite of cute Japanese Girl. Naturally I agreed to let him do what he had in mind since I never give the artists any direction other then the obvious of "a cute Japanese Lady in a Kimono".

Well the book arrived today and I was absolutely blown away when I opened it. Dorian absolutely went above and beyond all my expectations with the piece. I figured I would be getting a drawing but he went all out and painted the whole piece with a wonderful Harajuku Girl. She might not be like all of my other kimono girls but she is definitely a modern day kimono girl and I am very pleased to add her to the collection. She is just so adorably cute and all of the details that Dorian added are just fantastic. He really knocked it out of the park with this piece. Maybe I need to start including a link to my gallery when I make requests just to see the reactions of the artists being requested.
