DescriptionThe Death of Superman is another one of those seminal comics stories from my childhood that I had to get memorialized in a killer splash, ala the page-filling art style of Dan Jurgens - circa Superman #75. I remember being bowled over by Jurgens' use of single panel pages and immense double and triple page spreads in issue #75. That battle was titanic! Those images and that storyline burned a hole in my 12 year old kid brain. The injury remains with me to this day... And that is why I knew I had to pick an artist to fulfill my wishes with a similar capability to fill the page, wall to wall, with a superhero in his final death throes against the most infamous superhero-killing monster of all time. I had been a fan of Tyler's gigantic, in your face action panels since his work on the Green Lantern family of titles going back to 2011. This was the guy that was able to capture Doomsday's fearsome frame and Superman's will to fight despite getting the snot knocked out of him. By the time Tyler finished the piece in pencils and gray wash I was floored. I was floored even further when MGA (Tyler's art rep) sent me the colorized print, via pro colorist Tomeu Morey. These guys truly nailed it. I feel like I'm 12 again!Social/Sharing |

I love it. That was truly a special time for the character. I myself have something similar to this on its way, by a completely different artist, that I commissioned about a year ago;)

Very impressive take on this modern classic story. Tyler did great justice to it. Congrats !

Just wanted to point out that MGA arranged for this piece on Tyler and Tomeu's behalf and it was a quick process. About 1 month from first contact to me receiving the colored print and original b/w art in the mail.
