Jean Giraud. Moebius. Blueberry. Need I say more?
Probably not. If you know my postings, you would know it is unlikely you will get off that easy. This is page 1 of the fifth tome of Blueberry, La piste des Navajos published in 1969. This particular volume has never been reprinted in English. Although there is no Blueberry on this page, it is a great page and example of this legendary series. The large upper panel is a rare thing and was used sparingly in the book, often only on the first page of chapters. Giraud creates so much space and life to the opening vista. It alone is a treasure. The art is very much in the style of the Blueberry run and quite different from a lot of the work we associate with the name Moebius. His early Blueberry art shows the influence of Jije who is often credited as an inspiration to Moebius. Blueberry is a very well read and loved western comic series and I am happy to add a fine page from it to my collection. Another great part of this deal is that it is entirely from a trade deal with a fellow collector. Thank you Rene.
