Description

John Watson jumped full in on this commission, selecting Defenders Annual #1 as the template for what he developed into the cover for what might have been All Star Comics #80.

John did a masterful job and my great thanks to John and Aidan Lacy who introduced me to John.

I decided to go with Liberty Belle as opposed to Black Canary just because I really like her based on the great work Roy Thomas did with Libby in All Star Squadron and that she gets no love at all from DC.

I love how the logos, etc boost the art from "just" a pinup to a great nostalgic piece. Funny now the central character in the imaginary and inspiration covers are both... green.
