I had read Batman comics before, the first issue I actually bought with my own money was Batman #492, the first chapter of Knigtfall. I had no idea who Azrael or Bane were, but the whole thing intrigued me. I followed that story while searching for back issues, and finding a complete set of the Sword of Azrael miniseries was a big deal for me. And then Bane broke Batman's back, and Azrael became the new Batman. I liked Azrael, but I did not know what to think of these developments. And then Azrael became more crazy and violent with every issue, and I was sure I did not like it. Anyway, we all know Bruce came back and Azrael went on to redeem himself in his own solo series. But let's talk about AzBats' costume, which although it was very 90's, it did look cool when drawn by certain artists. Add Ron Salas to that list of certain artists. Jean-Paul looks extremely intimidating here, and would most certainly scare the crap out of any criminal he was swinging towards. I love the pose, the lighting, and of course, again, another fantastic Gotham City background. Seriously, folks, why DC isn't paying Ron to draw Batman professionally is a mystery I may never solve!
