Omar Rayyan - Turtle Race
Watercolor

Published as a cover to Spider Magazine, and was also honored with a Spectrum Editorial Gold Award in 2003.

As a child I had pet mice and a backyard full of gopher turtles & box turtles, which I used to race every summer at the "Winter Park Turtle 200" (I ended up with about a dozen or so trophies ... I definitely had unafraid & fast turtles). With this background, it's easy to see why I'm quite fond of Omar's Turtle Race.

Beautiful piece.
