Avengers-Squadron Supreme '98 page 31 by Carlos Pacheco

A very nice action page from the Avengers/Squadron Supreme '98 annual which featured some of Carlos’ best work in my opinion. Probably due to his well-known love for the Squadron Supreme which stars in this story.

It was published around the same time as Avengers Forever even though I suspect it may have been drawn before as an inventory story. This story may be less fondly remembered than AF (I suspect the variety of inkers inking this one may have a hand in that as well as it always hurts consistency) but the quality of the art is excellent.

I love the first panel in which you can really feel the impact Champion’s fist on Power Princess’s face. His use of her shield is also very well depicted. How he throws it and welcomes it back in his hand in the last panel. His confidence and ease at defeating his enemies is superbly highlighted by Carlos’ impeccable storytelling. And the flying Firestar is not that bad either ;)
