DescriptionOne of my favorite pages from my favorite comic of all time. 1977 was a magical year in comics and especially for the Avengers. George Perez, John Byrne, Sal Buscema and Mr. Starlin all contribted to the Avengers cannon in that year and each month miricals coverd the pages. Not to leave out that Jim Shooter, Pablo Marcos and Joseph Rubinstein were all big contributors as well to what made that my favorite year in comics. This issue has vexted me as the orginal page I bought from Starlin when we first met I had to sell to help fun my wedding. Another page a friend (who bought his at the same time) wanted me to sell for him about 6 years ago, so I did instead of just payinghim myself. I traded another page away to help secure getting a Warlock cover but never again will one of these precious pages leave my collection. I only have two but they are story pages and oddly enough I like them better than the flashy splash pages. Now if I can only get my 1 page back!!I loved panel #2 so much a few years back I based a commission on it. Here is the description on Comiclink where I aquired it: This important page featuring Jim Starlin's detailed origin of Thanos comes from one of the best remembered comic books of the late 1970s, Avengers Annual #7 from 1977. Thanos is one of the very top villains in the Marvel Universe and he's going to only get bigger with his anticipated lead role in the next two Avengers movies. This issue, along with Marvel Two-In-One Annual #2, was Starlin's initial conclusion to his epic "Thanos Saga" that had started several years earlier in 1973's Iron Man #55 and continued in the pages of Captain Marvel and Warlock before reaching an end in this story that left both Thanos and Adam Warlock dead for more than a decade. In the early 1990s, Starlin would revisit the characters as a writer for the extremely popular Infinity Gauntlet series, which inspired multiple sequels including Infinity War. Now that Thanos has been introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the hit Guardians of the Galaxy and the next two Avengers movies are called Avengers: Infinity War, it seems likely the events of this page are going to be at least partially translated for the whole world to see. Starlin's work stood out in a big way at Marvel in the 1970s and it still holds up today as some of the best comic art of its era. The story featuring this page has been reprinted multiple times and the issue itself is prized among Bronze Age collectors. This art has an image area of approximately 10" X 15". Changing this to all Jim Starlin as I trust the source and his eye Social/Sharing |

Starlin's recaps were dense and full of amazing imagery and made the reading experience as epic as the adventures he told.

I clearly recall this Annual and this is one of the best pages: "...and Kirk hit the jackpot once more!!!"

Please, Kirk, no more purchases from Avengers Annual 7. When you go all in, you GO ALL IN. Leave some scraps for the rest of us mere mortals. Congrats!
