Description

Story page 05 of 05 appearing in Blondie 71, 1954. I don't have any information about the artists or other elements. I purchased it because of WHEN it was created. Think about it... In April of 1954 the US Senate Subcommittee on Juvenile Delinquency had hearing on the comic book industry. September saw the formation of the Comics Code Authority. Comics cost 10 cents and averaged 34 pages per issue. It was the first year for Wendy the Good Little Witch and for an issue of "Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen". Dell published more comics than DC. Marvel's focus was on War, Western's and Women. DC had some heroes (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman) but MANY more humor-based books. So when you realize how different the landscape was in 1954, you might better appreciate the humor and perspective of this 5-page story.
