Description

Secret Coders from First Second Books is written by Gene Luen Yang and drawn by Mike Holmes. This is the protagonist Hopper who is named for computer pioneer Admiral Grace Hopper USN. I heard Gene speak on the project at Fantastic Comics in Berkeley, CA. I borrowed the book from the library and read it. I met the artist in Seattle at Emerald City Comicon 2016. In January 2016, Gene was named the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature by the Library of Congress, Every Child A Reader, and the Children’s Book Council.
