Description

Mark Crilley created the Akiko on the Planet Smoo comic book. This science fiction adventure comedy ran about 50 issues, then the cartoonist transitioned to doing illustrated prose books about Akiko. Mark has an interesting background as a former English teacher in Japan. He was part of the Trilogy Tour II in 1998 with Jeff Smith, Charles Vess, Linda Medley, Stan Sakai, and Jill Thompson. I met him at comic cons in the late 1990's. Although I haven't seen him come out West much anymore, but I read his fantasy romance Miki Falls graphic novel and his supernatural murder mystery Brody's Ghost graphic novel series. Mark also produces instructional drawing books and does instructional videos online. This illustration turned up on Heritage Auctions.
