This is a 3D shadowbox paper sculpture made in 1994 of the Animal Man #5 cover by Brian Bolland from 1988. These photos were taken in 2014 while fixing the frame. The 3D work has stood the test of time. This has been in my personal display collection ever since making it.
Upon seeing Brian's cover, I new I had to do this 3D for my own satisfaction and interest. It has been one of my personal favorite display pieces over the years.
Although not as deep as some of my other 3Ds, I've added as much 3D detail as possible like the tire tracks and pebbles on the upper ground. I love how the picture goes from a flat sketch on the bottom to real 3D up on top and the realistic hand drawing it.
