SPOTLIGHT ON J SCOTT CAMPBELL 3D shadowbox paper sculpture 2014

Being a fan of J Scott Campbell's art on Danger Girl and having met him a few times before getting back into doing 3Ds, I was keen on doing a 3D of one of his covers, but undecided. As anyone who is familiar with Scott's art, he does a great job drawing women which is one of the reasons which made Danger Girl popular. Whether its true or not, I also see a bit of early Howard Chaykin's influence in his style.
This is a 3D shadowbox paper sculpture made in 2014 of the SPOTLIGHT ON J SCOTT CAMPBELL cover from 2007. I always like covers where the characters are breaking through the cover such as this. The 3D work took about 20 hours and used about 20 color laser scan prints, not original covers, to make the 3D effect.
The 3D was show to JSC at the October 2014 Comikaze convention in Los Angeles which he enjoyed seeing.
