Description
I'd enjoyed putting together the "last issue spectacular" covers that Mitch did for me so much that I couldn't help but think about building out that 80's Crusaders universe.

I'm an unabashed fan of Alex's Perezian abilities and I'm very happy he was interested in contributing to this series of Crusaders covers. This second cover is based on a memory of an old Titans thing from the 80's. Had a devil of a time trying to remember it and describe it to Alex (it was New Teen Titans Vol 2 #2). Shadowwoman's and the Shield's face look great here and Alex does a beautiful Darkling. Some superb work from Alex! He just gets better and better. And to top it all off he just went and colored it as well. Did not see that one coming at all. Very, very kind of him. Chris brought his A game to the lettering on this one. I swear, I think Chris designs all the fonts he uses from scratch! One error here on my part. I gave Alex the wrong costume for the Shield. He really should be wearing the shorts. As always, I hope Crusaders fans approve :)

In This Issue ...

Changes continue to rock the team as the Crusaders look to deal with Lancelot Strong and CatGirl leaving last issue as well as the continued absence of the Shield, still hospitalized. Things only get worse when the reason for Darkling's miraculous return in issue #14 is finally explained. The villainous Queen of Hearts, Queen Cleopatra, herself a disembodied spirit found Darkling floating in Limbo and possessed her unconscious body. You didn't think that Darkling would really betray the team back in issue #16, did you?. But over time Darkling's own mind has been gathering strength and the two personalities have reached their final face off. As the weakened team calls for help from the mystic Kardak they are surprised when he arrives with help - the mysterious Shadowwoman and the being known as Gabriel, the Rejected. Can they help exorcise the malevolent Queen of Hearts from their teammate? And, if they can, what will be the cost? One bright spot for the Crusaders as Bill Higgins, the son of the original Shield, steps in to fill his father's shoes as the Shield!

What is this all leading to? Tune in next month and check out the first ever Mighty Crusaders Annual!

This Issue's Cover ...
Gabriel, Shadowwoman, the Shield and Kardak encircle an unconscious Darkling, the disembodied form of the Queen of Hearts rising.

I used that cover myself in the "Metallic Messiah" story-line but you put your own special spin on this. Well done

In my mind's eye, I could see this one at the top of the spinner rack. World class work here.
