Description

The Western Roundup Annual was published annually by WDL of Manchester between approximately 1958 to 1964. They were released in September to catch the Christmas market. This cover comes from the 1958 annual and shows: Maj. Adams, played by Ward Bond, from Wagon Train; Jim Hardie, played by Dale Robertson, from The Tales of Wells Fargo; and Jock Mahonney as the eponymous Range Rider.

Howarth drew hundreds of covers for WDL depicting popular TV characters for comics and annuals, as well as providing work for various other ventures.

I really like this piece. I grew up loving westerns thanks to my Dad and I love seeing western comic art. Bravo.
