Action Annual #3, p. 35, Krypto and Superman Splash

Incredible splash-page rendering of Super-dog Krypto and his master, Superman. The image area is 9.5" x 14.2" on unmarked Bristol-type white board. If you look closely, both Supes and Krypto can be seen in almost every panel of surrounding individual scenes. This pencil artwork is incredibly detailed, although it doesn't look like much pre-sketching or erasing of any preliminary or starter image was attempted. I darkened up the image slightly after scanning due to the light nature of the pencils. This page was published in Action Comics Annual #3 (2014) as page 35, however, Gopez did not do the inks nor the coloring on the final image. Some liberties were taken on simplifying the drawing in terms of inking and it is always interesting to follow that thought process through to publication.

Gopez has apparently worked as an illustrator on Dragon Lance, Wetworks, Batman and Superman and other Dynamite characters. I was unfamiliar with his work until this stunning piece caught my eye.
