Description

Doc is probably my favorite Pulp hero. The Shadow would, at times, challenge that favored spot. I first started reading the Bantam reprints back in the late 60's. Wonderful adventure tales. I could not get enough of Doc, his aides, Pat, and the fabulous 30's. Evan Driscoll provides his take on the classic 1930's Doc in this card art. I think he captures Doc to globe trotting perfection. This is the face of Pulp adventure.

I've been waiting awaiting the upcoming Doc movie for years. It could be spectacular, with the right lead. My choice would have been a young Clint Walker. Sadly, Mr Walker's age leaves him out as a choice. Hemsworth would be my second choice. He has the look, without being too over muscled. Doc was described as physical perfection, not a circus strongman. While Dewayne Johnson seems to be the choice, I'm not sold on him as the iconic character. I've enjoyed his work in other films, but just can't warm to him in the role. Time will tell.

Be sure to pick up a set of Evan's "Ground to a Pulp" trading cards. You won't be sorry. Just beautiful snapshots of days, and heroes, gone by.
