Description

Most folks don't realize that the phrase "keeping up with the Joneses" came from Pop Momand's comic strip of the same name. Aloysius P. McGinnis, the main character, seems to have been a riff of Billy DeBeck's "Barney Google", but the McGinnis' lived next to the Joneses, and strived to keep up with them, as the saying goes. This sweet example is from January 31, 1929.
