Description

Way back in 2004, I commissioned my very first comic artwork: a Black Panther by Bob McLeod, which you can see today in my Black Panther gallery. In succeeding years, Bob accepted several other commissions from me, for pieces that he both penciled and inked, as well as inking pieces penciled by other artists.

But for whatever weird reason, I never got around to commissioning Bob for my signature theme. I'm not sure why it took me a dozen years to add Bob's legendary talents to the Common Elements gallery... other than perhaps I forgot he'd never done one.

That appalling omission was eradicated at San Francisco Comic Con 2016. I contacted Bob prior to the show, and he delivered this fantastic piece on day one. Not only did I finally get a McLeod Common Elements, but I also got something else I'd long desired -- Bob drawing a founding member of the New Mutants, of which he was co-creator. This might not be one of my more clever Common Elements concepts, but it's definitely one of the most satisfying results.
