Eric Loutte studied Pastic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he learned the finer points of the comics profession from Vittorio Leonardo. Like many of his contemporaries, Loutte began his professional career in the advertising field. His first exploit in comics came in 1987, when he assisted René Follet and Christian Denayer on respectively the 'Edmund Bell' and 'Les Casseurs' series. He then began a project of his own, starting the 'Les Poisons de Mars', which was an adaptation of work by Asimov. The death of this famous science-fiction writer led to a premature end of the series. Loutte then got the opportunity to take over the 'Biggles' series from Francis Bergèse, in which he showed to be a talented artist of aviation comics.
