DescriptionI'd enjoyed putting together the "last issue spectacular" covers that Mitch did for me so much that I couldn't help but think about building out that 80's Crusaders universe.Kirby was most certainly the King and when reading the original Lancelot Strong issues I was struck by how cool two of his ideas were. I borrowed one, the Micro-Men for an earlier cover idea (#29), and I borrowed the other, the Spawn of the "X" World for this one. Jim had done such a cool job with the Captain Marvel / Manhunters commission from a while back that I wanted to see if he'd be up to do some Crusaders covers. This is the first of three he and his inker Jeff Autin did for me. Very impressed with this! A great angle, I dig the sleeker spawn and how can you not love the coolness of the Jaguar swooping in like that? One mistake, though. If you look closely you can see that he drew the wrong Wizard (GA as opposed to the granddaughter). But, hey, not all covers are perfect ;) As always, I hope Crusaders fans approve :) Original size 11x17 ------- In This Issue ... A meteor crashes into the Adirondack Mountains and a whole county goes dark. Just back from their trip to the moon the team finds themselves called in to investigate. Things get wild, though, when an old enemy returns. Once again, a spawn of the "X" world walks the earth! Can the team defeat this otherworldly juggernaut? Especially now that Mr. Justice has disappeared?? Where has the Royal Wraith gone and how does it connect to next month's King-Sized Mighty Crusaders Special??? This Issue's Cover ... The Wizard, Steel Sterling, Jaguar and Pow-Girl face off against the monstrous Spawn of the "X" World! Social/Sharing |
