Description"At night I go out...and make the world sane."I've been a big fan of Garth Ennis for over 20 years, and consider his PUNISHER (MAX) run a high point for both him and the character. When I first started collecting art over 10 years ago, this series was just getting started with the introductory (and IMO, the best) storyline, "In The Beginning". This splash page was what I wanted most from the key first issue. Alas, it was already locked up in a black hole collection. The owner collected nothing BUT art from Ennis comics of this period. He had the bulk of the available LaRosa/Palmer pages from the first arc. And this was the best piece in that entire lot. I let the owner know of my interest, but had zero expectation that he'd part with it. He was very gracious though, and if nothing else, it was cool to meet a fellow fan. For better or for worse, my tastes have remained stubbornly consistent, so 10 years later, when this piece finally became available, I jumped all over it. It may mean very little to anyone else, but for me, damn satisfying to add it now to my gallery! So thanks Steve for letting me scratch this 10 year itch, thanks Garth for the definitive take on Punisher, thanks Lewis LaRosa for depicting Punisher as the ultimate badass old dude, and thanks Tom Palmer for the unbelievable inks! Alucinante!. My favourite work of Ennis is this series, and it's one of my favorite rereads.

I couldn't agree more on Ennis and his definitive take on the Punisher. For me this is probably his absolute best as I find him a much stronger writer on serious series as opposed to his well -known humor side (as in Preacher). And while Larosa was not my favorite artist on this run, this is a spectacular example so big congrats to you.

That's great! Not just the artwork, that backstory. Glad to see you find this level of satisfaction in finally acquiring the piece. Very happy for you. Nice way to end the old year and start the new one.

Lovely acquisition! This series just keeps getting better with age and repeated readings.
