Description

After 32 days in a hospital bed (3 weeks of that in the ICU), she can stand with a walker and even take a couple of steps. And after a month of being fed through her nose, she had her first taste of "real" food. JELLO. (Hmm, does jello count as real food?) Only liquids and soft foods for now, but as soon as she can move to more solid foods, we can finally take that darn tube out of her nose. Thanks to all for the emails of well wishes and support.

By the way, the hospital liked this photo so much, they asked her permission to use it as a display. Not sure if they meant in the Physical Therapy room or on their website.

Great News! Better Days Ahead. My mother recently beat breast cancer. Women are much stronger than us!

Thanks Drew! My mom is as tough as they come. There's no way I would have survived this type of surgery at 80 (or 50, or maybe even 30). My heartfelt congratulations to your mom as well.

Long story short, I had to go through open heart surgery myself almost 2 years ago at the ripe old age of 44. I know how difficult the recovery is and how important it is to have family support through the healing process. All the best to you and your mom, and may she have a speedy recovery.
