Description

A nice, ink washed gag from the third year of the strip. Published in the Saturday Evening Post. Little Lulu was created by Marge Buell in response to the popular Henry strip by Carl Anderson featuring a non-speaking young boy's antics. Henry ran in the Saturday Evening Post from 1932-1934 and when it left for syndication, a void was created for which Little Lulu was created in 1935. Little Lulu's format changed from a single gag to 4 panel gags in 1944 and eventually followed Henry into syndication in 1950. The strip continued until 1969. Interestingly enough, Marge never touched the syndicated strips yet her name/signature remained on them.

This charming, single panel gag features the long legged version of Lulu (therefore either 1935 or 1936).
