Description

A million Thanks to Paolo Giovenale for parting with this fantastic piece! Another Toth grail that I had been chasing on and off for many years! Alex Toth only drew the first two 8 page stories from the Torpedo series, before he decided that the dark sensibilities in the writing (by Sanchez Abuli) weren't for him and it was taken over by Jordi Bernet. As far as I know, the majority of the other Toth Torpedo pages are owned by Bernet himself. I still cannot believe that I own this one!

This first Torpedo story was originally published in a Spanish Edition of Creepy in Feb 1982, before being printed in English in Vampirella #108. It's cool to see the red lettering that was presumably Alex Toth's translated English script, before being translated back into Spanish for Creepy, then once again into slightly different wording for the English Vampirella printing.

Only two Toth TORPEDO pages are out there that I know of, including this one. So major congrats on getting this gem!

Thanks JL! Really appreciate it! There are a lot of art decisions I regret (selling my Mignola cover for instance) but going all-in on this page is not one of them.
