Description

When I found out about Glenn Fabry�s appearance at Super Sac-Con in Sacramento, California, I knew I had to make the two-hour trek, again. That meant getting out of the house by 7:00am. I arrived at the con �on time,� but by the time I got through the doors, the show was thirty minutes in and Fabry�s sketch list was already filled up. I told him how far I had traveled to see him and that I was disappointed that I couldn�t get a sketch from him. He signed my books and asked me to check again later. I did as he was finishing up his umpteenth John Constatine sketch and he squeezed in this Bane head sketch. It was an amazing sight to see him work in gray tone markers, I tell ya. When he finished, I offered to buy him a beer. �They have beer here?� He asked. �Yeah, right outside in those food trucks,� I said. He hesitated for a few seconds and said, �No, I�ll be okay.� I toast to you anyway, Glenn.

Completed on October 26, 2014.

2018 update: Glenn Fabry made an appearance at Silicon Valley Comic Con in San Jose, CA on April 6-8, 2018. There he added color and more detail to my Bane piece as well as embellishing the background with a flock of bats. It was a pleasure to hang out at Glenn's table to watch him work and listen to his stories. He's quite the charming genius.

That's beautiful. Such talent. Fabry is one of the few left on my Bane list.

Fantastic Bane sketch by the great Glenn Fabry. He is such an incredibly talented artist. Not too many artists at his level. Great to pick up a sketch from him.
