DescriptionIf this looks like a prime Eisner Spirit page, that's no accident. Dr Drew was created by three people from Eisner's shop, writer Marilyn Mercer (Eisner's secretary), artist Jerry Grandenetti (Spirit background artist) and the great letterer Abe Konegson. That Grandenetti drew a lot of pages that people think are pure Eisner is something of an open secret --reportedly Jim Steranko was annoyed to learn that the 1948 Spirit story he reprinted (in it's entirety) in Vol 2 of his History of Comics, as proof of Eisner's greatness, was entirely drawn by Jerry. Makes you wonder about Marilyn's contributions! Anyway, her Dr Drew stories are fabulously hallucinatory.Social/Sharing |

That top right panel is so deliciously Eisner-ish! Congrats on this. Jon had some amazing artwork.

Cool page. I have a Grandenetti page that looks like Eisner did it as well. Great to see some Fiction House art being posted.
