Bill Savage is a character that appeared in the very first prog of 2000ad way back in 1977, and his story is still running today.

The story of Savage begins in a alternate 1990s when Britain - along with the rest of Western Europe - has been invaded, and conquered, by the Volgan Empire. (The 'Volgan Empire' is the rebranding of Russia after it had fallen to a fascist military coup some years previous.)
