Description

This is posted in honor of Jack's 101st. birthday! In a beauty and the beast type moment, Bekka accepts Orion for what he is after mother box reveals his true mangled appearance.

Hunger Dogs was a strange hodgepodge of unused Kirby/Royer New Gods #12 art with added Kirby pgs. inked by D. Bruce Berry. Final re-inking + rework was done by artist Greg Theakston. Changes sometimes involved re-inked paste-overs added to the heads of some figures.

This page was handled differently probably due to the size of the image. The entire page was photocopied and Theakston re-inked the stat. No paste-overs were used. As a result, there are two separate and distinct versions of this page.

Version "A" is the original untouched Berry inked p.51 and "B" is the reworked copy by Theakston. The latter is what appeared in the published graphic novel. Note the differences between the two versions in Orion's hair, eyes, chin, and fingers, as well as Bekka's hair, head dress, and expression.

I own both of these but prefer Berry's finishes over Theakston's thicker line work.
