I've laxed too much on that Jem Redesign theme with Bill, and Blaze has been at the top of the list for a while.

Lea "Blaze" Dwyer is a character original to the current IDW Jem comics as a friend of Clash, the gopher/#1 fan of the Misfits. She's a reoccurring character for the first year of the series, and then during the "Dark Jem" arc she joins the Misfits as a temporary replacement for lead singer Pizzazz when she's injured in a car crash. Even after Pizzazz returns, Blaze is allowed to stay with the Misfits (just not as lead singer).

Blaze is also one of the few openly transgender characters in comic books at this point. There was this whole thing when she joined the Misfits where she explained she was trans, though some people felt it wasn't handled properly (the conversation was edited in the TPB for "Dark Jem" and I do agree the new version is better than the original).

I thought it'd be fun to see Bill offer his take on a character original to the comic series and I hope to get this autographed by Kelly Thompson and Sophie Campbell the next time I get to meet them.
