Description

A lovely Bruce McCorkindale recreation of Leo E. O'Mealia's ACTION COMICS #2 cover. One of my very favourite Golden Age covers. O'Mealia is largely forgotten today, but his skills were head and shoulders above most of the Golden Age comic book artists, in my opinion.

Pen, brush and ink on 13 X 20" bristol board. Bruce said " I wasn't that familiar with Leo before starting, so it made for a nice change-up." Michael Wm. Kaluta said of this cover, "It's like somebody crawled around in my mind..." or something to that effect. Kaluta had never seen this image until well after he did THE SHADOW for DC.

I only recently discovered this cover Ray. It's absolutely stunning and this recreation is a wonderful tribute to it!!!

I personally believe there is not a better ACTION Comics cover. It looks like Bruce did this justice (too bad he didn't sign it...).
