Description

Archie Goodwin was one of the first writers I noticed as I became a more discerning reader. I followed his collaborations with artist Walter Simonson in Manhunter (Detective Comics) and Alien: the Illustrated Story. I saw some of his Secret Agent Corrigan comic strips with artist Al Williamson. I loved his Blazing Combat stories for Warren with artists Gene Colan, Reed Crandall, George Evans, Russ Heath, Joe Orlando, John Severin, Alex Toth, and Wally Wood. I met him once at WonderCon in Oakland in the 1990's. He was at the Marvel booth and I had a few things for him to sign. I have a couple quick sketches from then, but this sketch for art dealer Tom Horvitz was up for auction and I was happy to add it to my collection.
