1973, Vampirella and Friends in New Orleans

Vampirella, Pendragon, Adam and Conrad Van Helsing hold a discussion in a finely detailed bar scene in this Jose Gonzalez title splash from the height of the artist's esteemed run on Vampirella. In addition to having excellent character inclusion, this work also features a large frontal image of a scantily-clad bar patron, underscoring one of the reasons that the artist's work was so popular on the adult-themed series.

Jose Gonzalez was one of the main artists to work on the 1970s Vampirella title. He took over Vampirella with issue 12 and was the primary artist on every issue up to #34. He would continue contributing to the title through the late 1970s. It is reported that Gonzalez produced 53 Vampi Stories in total, making him the most prolific artist on the series.
