Description

I found the artist on Instagram. Her work is disturbingly good and I don't mean that because she's a girl. I say disturbingly because her bread and butter is the kind of stuff that would keep you up at night with the lights on and checking under the bed! Brilliant and precise, the artist known as Crap Panther executed my idea with gory detail and intense energy which perfectly captures the idea I gave her to run with.

I asked her for the "birth of Swamp Thing" from the swamp after being blown to smithereens as Alec Holland. I wanted the viewer to get a real sense of the juxtaposed agony and catharsis of ending one life and beginning a new one, the violent reckoning of becoming the avatar of The Green.

After she had accepted my idea with glee I should add, I contacted her again to request a couple small additions to the original concept. One, the inclusion of the initials of ol' Swampy's creators who themselves had re-joined The Green much to their fans heart-break. First, Bernie Wrightson and then Len Wein. So if you look closely you can spot "LW + BW". A cannabis sativa plant served as the second add-in; a tip of the cap to the psychedelic tubors that Swamp Thing produced. She wrote at the bottom "Vita est morte est vita" which is Latin for "Life is death is life". A fitting title which she intuitively gave the piece and I emphatically agree with.

At 11" x 14", this piece is every bit as framable as any published piece.
