Description

This is something very valuable for me from my early years in comic art collecting: 2pcs colored Mickey Mouse drawings for "Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse In Color Limited Gold Plate Edition"

If you look carefully, you can see there is written "To Matti, 8/24/90 in Grants Pass, Oregon U.S.A. Carl Barks". And the other one is dedicated for Leena (my sister).
So, when I made pilgrimage trip to Grants Pass, to meet at their home Carl Barks, the great artist whom I had admired for years, I decided I don�t dare to ask him to draw, once there must have been thousands of others asking it already. So I rather took something, and only small Barks originals I had then, with me, from Finland to U.S.A. And asking then just his dedications and signatures into them. Well, it didn�t happen to be any Duck but Mickey, once just recently then I had bought them from Another Rainbow. Those colored drawings were among the book "Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse In Color Limited Gold Plate Edition", edition was only 100 copies, each of them having a Mickey Mouse drawing, all of them in a bit different positions, originally done for the film "Through the Mirror". So, I went there, I was the first Finnish fan Carl and Gar� met, and this meeting had big impact into my life and what I did in the following years. A book, "Carl Barks' Surviving Comic Book Art" was then the study I did and published in 1994, I got inspired so much from this meeting.
