DescriptionHere's one of our art purchases from last weekend's Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention. By Alicia Austin and George Barr, it was the cover painting to Harold Lamb's "Durandal," published by Donald M. Grant in 1981. The story originally ran in the pulp, Adventure, in 1926. I'm a big fan of Lamb's work and was very pleased to pick this one up!Social/Sharing |

revealing my ignorance..... Why is the art credited as "By Alicia Austin and George Barr"? Did Alicia design the concept" What was the division of work?

I'm not entirely sure; one did the inking and one the color, I believe.

The L shaped border looks like a level of detail I've seen George use previously in his other works. However, the characters' faces don't have the same "lyrical"* quality to my naive eye.
*softened but full of expression
