Description(Story spoilers below)This is my favorite panel page in the series. Batman’s operatic plunge into the city after his confrontation with Harley is for me the most memorable single panel in the story, and it’s bookended by key interactions between Harley & BM and Harley & Napier. The Gotham imagery is sublime, particularly the atmospherics and the way it’s lit. Batman’s diving figure and his cast shadow on the building leading up to Harley’s lone figure are amazing, as are all the shadows in this scene. There are a couple subtle hints here that Harley’s been controlling events from page one, which isn’t spelled out until the final issue (unless you noticed the hidden text on the A cover of issue 1…). I love how angry and violent Batman is here as he unironically denounces everyone else for forgetting that Joker is a violent psycho, and then Harley chides Napier for focusing on Batman’s obsession with him, rather than the fate of the city. Murphy expertly uses the action and composition to lead the eye back and forth from panel to panel. Such great storytelling! I’ve had that lower left panel as my phone’s lockscreen for a month now, so from both aesthetic and story perspectives, I realized that this is a page I had to have. After an unsuccessful initial bid for the page, Sean and Colleen agreed to my 2nd offer and I’m delighted to add it to my collection. The page looks dynamite in the book --- Hollingsworth nailed the colors here (see attached) --- but I love it in B&W without the word balloons. Looking forward to a BWK gallery edition! As Murphy Tweeted after issue 5 came out, the top panel is a nod to Miller and Mazzucchelli’s Year One (see attached), which really adds for me since I love that groundbreaking book so much. The engaging Batforceradio podcast that went up after the final issue hit stands discussed the cinematic aspects of this page. The hosts gushed about the beauty of the backgrounds and the movement of the figures. I was tickled to hear one of the interviewers say that he wanted the OA for this page and Murphy joked that it was in the mail (which was true, but he failed to mention that it was addressed to my mailbox, not his…). In the podcast, Murphy claimed that his favorite “character” in the story is Gotham City, rather than the Batmobile as he has said other times. I think it’s a tie. In any case, Murphy is clearly passionate about drawing everything that falls within his panels. With the extremely satisfying conclusion of this miniseries, I can now confidently state that White Knight is my favorite Batman story of all time after DKR and Year One. SGM just blows me away. I find that one of the most impressive things about Sean's art is that he's able to brilliantly mix all three prominent styles in comics: American, European and Japanese. Congrats on this spectacular page!

Really great page. Wonderful storytelling, and that cape panel is real special. There's a podcast w/ SGM on Bat Force Radio (iTunes), and one of the speakers discusses this page and how much he loves it. (Notice: lot's of swearing in the podcast.)

Congrats on snagging another awesome pages out of the ones Sean was keeping! Great leading of the eye on this page. I agree that the series lived up to the early promise and delivered a satisfying conclusion.

This really is a great piece of work. I’ve not read the series yet, and I confess as much as I was digging on SGMs work before this book, some of his early comments about it turned me off. But I’m really curious to read it now especially after seeing your thoughts on it.

This page hums with emotional energy. That first scene, the perfectly captured emotions on their faces, the sharp wash and noir tone. Wow. This is a stunning page. Big congrats!
