DescriptionKey original artwork for Lady Death: The Odyssey #1 page 4 (Chaos Comics, 1996), by the late Steven Hughes (pencils and inks). This first chapter is entitled, "Cross Roads" and opens with Lady Death trapped in the void, struggling in an intense dialogue with a mysterious voice, which challengers her to stop walling in the past and to accept what she was born to be - a warrior by telling her, "You were born for battle! You were bred to FIGHT! NOW FIGHT!" This mysterious Voice continues to prompt Hope (Lady Death) to escape from her past pains and hurts and go beyond it, yet she continues to resist.A thousand realms away, the angelic Vandala (Lady Death's half sister) watches from a far and contemplates upon Hope's plot by stating, "She is not the fierce warrior we imagined. This is the CHOSEN ONE? Perhaps already we are doomed." This is that very page, which features the very first appearance of Vandala - with a opening shot from her backside looking off into the distance - the angelic Valkyrie who is Lady death's half sister. Vandala contemplates with grave concern, wondering if Hope is indeed the savior, who seems to be sadly walling in her tragic past and struggling with demons that endlessly vex her at every turn. The long awaited and dreaded Judgment Day is approaching for the fallen angels and lady Death has a central role to fulfill. And, Vandala is determine to see that Hope does so so, she enters the void to collect the unconscious body of Lady Death - see page 6 of this tale, which features the very first frontal shot of Vandala.
