Description

Robin 3000 was a 2 issue series (story by Byron Preiss, script by Preiss and Steven Ringgenberg, art by P Craig Russell).

The thing I remember most about Robin 3000 is a page that could've been left out and noone would've noticed.

The Robin android is teleporting across the universe but needs a recharge. He asks Selina Kyle for that recharge. Cats may have 9 lives but how long is a life ? Is this THE Selina Kyle ??? Any way, this is the only page in Robin 3000 that features (or mentions) her.

Any way, the line that really got me was:
Bruce, you never cease to amaze me... even now.

I thinks it's great that no matter how well you think you know someone, you can still be surprised. I mean, in a good way.

Wayne Alan Harold told me that PCR may have sold most of the pages a while back. Except for the 2 covers from Robin 3000, I haven't seen any other art from the series. Any way, even though the original may be out "there", this point in the story is definitely worthy of being recreated.

In PCR's most recent Kickstarter campaign, one of the rewards was a commissioned drawing of a character most associated with PCR. Although Robin 3000 is not one of PCR's most known projects, I asked if he would agree to draw another avian character that usually graces my CAF galleries. Or draw the recreation you see here.

Any way, PCR elected to do the recreation. OK, so maybe I don't get a brand new PCR image. But I do get the benefit of PCR's efforts to compose an entire page, even if it's "just" a recreation of it.

The original issue had 3 letterers (Kurt Hathaway, George Roberts and John Workman). The recreation lettering is by Galen Showman.

Much thanks to PCR and Wayne Alan Harold.

Editor's Note: I met PCR a few years later and asked if was easier to do the recreation because he already did the hard work up front... or harder to do because he had to stay faithful to the original. He said it was easier. And it looks like this recreation may have (kick) started a trend because recreations of pages from Sandman 50 have been formally added as a reward to PCR's Kickstarter campaigns.
